  • Is Dr. Flannagan board-certified?

Yes, Dr. Flannagan has been board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2009. Contact Flannagan Plastic Surgery today to work with one of the top plastic surgeons in our area.

  • How do I know if I am too old to have plastic surgery?

Age is not a qualification or disqualification for plastic surgery. At a consultation, Dr. Flannagan will determine what each patient is looking to achieve, what operation or procedure would be necessary to achieve that goal, and if the patient is physically healthy and strong enough to undergo the procedure and recovery. Dr. Flannagan will also assess the patient’s support structure as many operations require a helpful hand at home in the immediate short-term post-operative period. His thoroughness is what makes him one of the top plastic surgeons in our area!

  • Where will my operation be performed?

Dr. Flannagan will evaluate a patient’s breast skin, native tissue, and measurements to recommend an appropriate size range, then work with the patient to determine the best option.

  • How long will my recovery time be?

Different operations have different levels of complexity and require different lengths of time for recovery. Overall, cosmetic procedures require very little downtime, and a person can return to an adjusted full day of work within days or up to two weeks after the operation. According to the Mayo Clinic, a breast lift procedure typically takes two to three hours, and you can go home on the same day. In terms of recovery time, most breast augmentations allow a patient to return to work in three to four days with lifting restrictions. Most abdominoplasties allow a person to return to a desk-type job within seven to 10 days and a standing job with weight restrictions at two weeks. In our experience, 90% of a patient’s daily activities will be resumed four to six weeks after almost any operation.

You can resume low-impact cardio in one week. In 2-4 weeks, a patient can do light toning extremity workouts. Running can resume one month after surgery.
