Jasper Residents Ask: What Are the Best Exercises for Lifting Your Breasts? As you age, your breasts naturally become less perky. That’s because the skin covering your breasts begins to lose elasticity and the breast tissue succumbs to gravity. But that’s not the only issue. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal changes and fluctuations in body weight will also affect the shape, size and perkiness of your breasts.

The breasts are mainly composed of fatty tissue, as well as glands and connective tissue. Ligaments and skin support the breasts – and over time, both of these support systems begin to stretch. The result is drooping breasts and wrinkled, loose skin. (Stretching can also occur due to fluctuations in weight, pregnancy and breastfeeding.) Once the ligaments have been stretched, they cannot be shortened. Some creams may offer temporary help, but not enough to actually lift the breasts.

Exercises for Lifting the Breasts

While breast lift surgery is the only way to truly tighten and lift the breasts, exercise can help to improve the appearance of sagging breasts and help to prevent further drooping. This is accomplished by targeting the muscles beneath the breasts (the pectorals) with weight-bearing exercise. These exercises will not affect the shape of your breasts, but they can result in a slightly lifted appearance.

The best exercises for building the chest muscles are push-ups and free-weight presses (flat, incline and decline).

In addition to these targeted exercises, you should balance your workout by exercising the back and shoulders. Try doing rows, overhead presses, and front and lateral raises. It is important to have a strong back and shoulders because it will improve your posture. Improved posture will help to prevent the rounded shoulders that can make breasts look even less perky.

Breast Lift Surgery

Firming the pectoral muscles underneath the breasts through exercise will provide some support, but it cannot eliminate the loose, sagging skin caused by a loss of elasticity. Breast lift surgery is the only way to actually lift the breasts.

Also called a mastopexy, a breast lift procedure is a surgical technique in which excess skin surrounding the breasts is trimmed and tightened. This gives the breasts a more uplifted appearance, eliminating sagging. A breast lift is a safe, effective procedure that will provide long-lasting results.
