What is Blepharoplasty?
A blepharoplasty procedure is performed to improve the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids. It may also be needed to repair certain problems with the eyelids.
All blepharoplasty procedures at Flannagan Plastic Surgery are performed by Oculoplastic Specialist Dr. Kathleen Flannagan, who is highly skilled at all types of upper and lower eyelid surgery, including the following:
- Stye removal
- Chalazion removal, the elimination of growths on the inside of the eyelid
- Correcting blepharospasms or involuntary closing of the eyelids
- Ptosis repair to eliminate sagging upper eyelids that partially cover the pupil
- Ectropion and entropion repair to fix eyelids that turn inward or outward
- Eyelid reconstructive surgery to restore the eyelid after skin cancer has been removed from it
- Evisceration and enucleation to remove a diseased eye or portions of it
- Dacryocystorhinostomy, or repair of the tear ducts
Benefits of Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery is often thought of as something that is performed to reduce signs of aging. However, it can also involve tear duct repair, eliminating a stye, or chalazion removal. As such, a blepharoplasty could also provide relief from a number of ocular conditions, and is not always cosmetic in nature.
Is BlepharoplastyRight for Me?
You could desire eyelid surgery if you are bothered by sagging eyelids, unusual growths, or are experiencing problems with your tear ducts.
Elements of a Blepharoplasty
Each procedure is carefully refined to ensure the best possible results for you personally. During your consultation, Dr. Kathleen Flannagan will determine which technique would best suit you, and will then be able to explain the elements to you.
How Long is the Recovery After a Blepharoplasty?
This will also depend upon the type of procedure you have and the surgical method used. You should expect to be sensitive to sunlight for at least a few weeks and should protect your eyes with sunglasses whenever you are outdoors.
How Much Does a Blepharoplasty Cost?
The first step in determining your cost is to schedule a blepharoplasty consultation at Flannagan Plastic Surgery. This will allow us to develop a custom treatment program as well as a detailed cost analysis. We will then go over this cost analysis item by item to ensure you fully understand each item listed. After that, our team will work out the best financing option for your needs and budget. Most of our patients use a combination of the following to pay for their procedures:
- Personal or cashier’s checks
- American Express
- CareCredit® Financing
